Google AdSense - How to Find Help For about a year now I've been an active member of the Google AdSense Help forums. It started when I went looking for help and got none.
It wasn't so much that nobody wanted to help, but nobody knew how to resolve my particular problem. But my quest to gain access to my account (which had been active for some years) didn't seem to have an answer. I did eventually get back into my account.
In the course of the last few years Google Accounts and accounts for other Google products (like Blogger, or Gmail, or AdSense) were different log-ins. None worked for the other. When I finally began using the Google Open ID, somehow (no, I don't know how) that log-in allowed me to get access to my still active AdSense account.
From then on, I spent a great deal of my time picking through the help files that AdSense provides in their Help Center, but finding just what you want can be a little difficult when you don't quite know where to look.
When you arrive at the help forum the best thing to do first is search. At the top of the page is a search bar. Enter your question (or complaint) into the search bar. It will return results from the Help Forum.
There's a good chance that your problem has been addressed in the past, and some of those threads will have a solution for you. If not, then post your question and ask for help.
That search will also return other results if you take a minute to look before posting. The search results page has a little drop down box where it will say "AdSense Help - showing "Help Forum". If you click on the drop down box you can see any results from the AdSense "Help Center" and results from "any source" - this "any source" includes results from the web.
There are many people who blog about AdSense - both it's good points and what they see as it's bad, and AdSense will include the more popular ones in the search results.
The Help Center itself has a lot of information and it actually does answer many of the questions - it's just a matter of finding out where to look.
The Help Center link is in the upper left hand corner of the Help Forums. You can also get to the AdSense Help Center from your sign-in page. Simply go to the page where you normally sign in to your AdSense account and click on the help link at the bottom of the page.
If you can't find what you need, use the link in the upper left of that page for the Help Forum.
Yes, I know - it's confusing. It's even more confusing for those people who have English as a second language, or for those new to marketing, to blogging or to web building. That's why the Help Forums are there - they provide the "front line" support for AdSense.
The Help Forums are manned by volunteers, not by paid employees. Volunteers listed as "Top Contributor" are not paid for answering questions and helping. The Top Contributor designation is nothing more than another forum "Level" - these are people who have spent time in the Help Center and the Help Forums offering assistance to others.
While there are cases that can't be resolved in the Help Forums, most of the time you can find answers or resolve issues with the help provided by the volunteers.
And before I close - a word of warning. While there are many non-official forums for AdSense and many bloggers who write about AdSense I would urge you to be careful whose advice you follow. In the forums, we've seen many cases where people have taken advice from someone's blog and ended up losing their AdSense accounts.
It's always wise to err on the side of prudence - check the official sources to keep your account healthy and active.
